While the thought of entering the housing market may sound daunting, it might just be necessary. As time goes on, you may find yourself no longer in the place you were when you originally purchased your home and unfortunately as you’ve changed, your house remains (mostly) the same.
Here are 4 telltale signs that it may be time to start searching for a new home:
Time to Expand
One indicative sign that it’s time to move is that you’ve outgrown your home. Perhaps you’ve met someone and your small condo no longer fits into your future plans of getting married and starting a family. Or maybe your once little family of 3 is now becoming a not so little family of 5. Either way, if you feel your home is bursting at its seams, it may be time to move to a larger home that better accommodates your needs.
Time to Trim
Quite the opposite of needing to expand, you may find yourself having too much house. If you’ve got an empty nest with several unoccupied rooms, it may be time to downsize. Perhaps this large, once filled family home is becoming a lot to take care of and a smaller home that requires less maintenance better suits you.
Need for New
Have you vowed to move every winter for the last 10 years? Is the “to do” list of home upgrades and repairs becoming longer than you can bear? If so, it may be time for a serious upgrade. Rather than staring at homes for sale online in warmer climates or newer homes you’re interested in in your area, make the decision and start packing!
Outside Factors
Plenty of outside factors can contribute to your desire to move. Maybe the commute to your new job is farther away than you’d like and you find yourself filling up on gas every other day. Maybe your once lovely neighborhood has gone downhill or a large shopping center has taken the place of the nearby park. If you are no longer happy at your residence due to outside forces that you cannot change, it may be time to get on the internet and start looking.
