How to Prep Your Home for the Holiday Season

You may be ready for the most wonderful time of the year, but is your home?

Here are some tips to help you feel extra prepared and extra excited for the upcoming holiday season!

Say RIP to Halloween

It’s officially November which means it’s time to stop procrastinating and start putting away all your Halloween stuff until next year. Start with any decorations around your home, then move onto costumes and rotted jack-o-lanterns. If you still find yourself with massive amounts of left over candy from trick-or-treat, spend a weekend baking these yummy recipes to get rid of the excess then share these sweet treats at work or with friends!

Procrastinate No More

Speaking of procrastination…are you maybe one of those people who still has their flip flops and sunscreen on deck? No judgements- we’ve all been there- but it’s time to stop putting it off and start putting it away! Swap out your summer clothes for good and start prepping for the winter months to come. It’s not just your clothes that need tending to either; with winter well on its way you must be sure your home is ready too! Follow these tips to winterize your home so that first snow is less brutal.

Add Warmth

Now that you’ve put away the summer stuff, it’s time to warm up your living room or bedroom (wherever you will be spending the next 3 months hibernating) by swapping out light throws, pillows and curtains for heavier versions to keep you warm this winter. Purchase some new candles with winter scents to make things even cozier and be sure your fireplace is cleaned out and ready to use!

Prepare for Holiday Guests

The coming of the holiday season means the coming of holiday guests which means you need to have your guest bed/bath prepped and ready to go! First things first, swap out old sheets and pillows for clean, fresh, and potentially warmer ones. Make sure your guests have clean towels, bottled water and a docking or charging station for their electronics as well.

Decorate!

While prepping your home for the holiday season may seem like all work, there is a fun part-decorating! Whenever you are ready (it’s never too early, right?), bring out the tree, ornaments, garland and stockings and go nuts!
