Loan Road Map: Stop #4 Home Inspection

Contingent upon you taking ownership of the home is your home inspection.

A home inspection is a full examination of the condition of the home. Home inspections can help alert potential buyers to problems that probably aren’t easily noticeable.

A home inspector is a professional third-party who will conduct an inspection of the general condition of the house. A house may look move-in ready, but an inspector will cover features of the house that don’t meet the eye. There are 5 great reasons to have a home inspection before you buy:

  • Problems you can’t see. There could be problems with wiring and plumbing that don’t meet the eye.
  • Save money. Because there could be problems that you can’t see, you have the potential to save money years down the road. You know the status of ALL aspects of your home before you purchase it.
  • Information gathered during the home inspection can help you negotiate the price of the home.
  • Many buyers include clauses in their purchase agreement that require sellers to make necessary repairs before the home is sold. Information gathered from your home inspection aid in making this happen.
  • Know what you’re buying. You will have fewer surprises down the road when you know what you’re purchasing.

Home inspections are not required, but highly encouraged.
